Heather was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and moved to Africa at the age of nine with her family where she lived for four and a half years during her most impressionable years. (That's Heather in Africa, age 11. The writer and tea-time lover emerges.) It was here that she began to understand the connection to all living things and came to know the grace and wisdom of the esoteric world. You could say that it was here that she began recognizing and feeling the sacredness of life and began to write things down - hence the name of the website, Sacred Scribe.
Heather has been writing about spiritual things all her life as a way to express the feeling of Spirit flowing through her and she has found this practice, along with her connection to nature, to be the two most influential teachers she's ever had.
Adversity and The Evolution of the Soul
Heather's healing journey of transformation has taken her through loss, two boarding schools in a foreign country, abandonment, culture shock, co-dependency, a dissolved 10-year marriage, single motherhood, 29 moves, depression, poverty and personal bankruptcy. From these life experiences she has earned the wisdom and privilege to write about what she calls the evolution of the soul - which she believes to be the true purpose of our existence - and to offer you what she's learned by way of her books,
and the reams and reams of free writing in her blog
posts and library
We Are Meant To Enjoy Life!
But, if you don't have the time or inclination to read through all this material, then let Heather sum things up for you in one simple statement - "Regardless of circumstance, we can still feel joy! Even in poverty, illness, or emotional stress, the ability remains to look up at the sky, or at a flower, or create a thought of joy, or fall into our heart and suck the life out of that moment. I'm talking about mining every ounce of gold from the endless treasures of life all around us when we really take a good look, even through our trials,"
At heart, Heather is still really a bush girl from her youth in Africa whose greatest joy remains being in, and communing with nature. She lives a humble, peaceful life in a little valley town that she loves, and whose beautiful, natural surroundings, lakes, and waterfalls keep her ever outdoors hiking, kayaking
, looking at the sky, or simply 'being'
as much as possible. Heather mostly walks wherever she needs to go which she finds totally calming to body, mind, and Spirit. She is also a former Holistic Nutritional Consultant
who claims to be a full-fledged "foodie." Heather loves to cook and create new things in the kitchen and adores the feeling of feeding others.
What You Don't Know About Heather
From her Africa days, Heather is in love with gemstones and tea-time and in the winter everything stops most days at 4 pm so she can chill with a cup of tea and a few cookies. Barry White's voice and music make her swoon, she loves to dance, and she's completely addicted to watching YouTube videos of The X-Factor, Britain's Got Talent, and American Idol when time allows, Heather travelled and camped across Western Canada and the Southern USA
for almost a year in a VW camper van with no fixed address or cell phone, She loves long distance train rides, collecting unique, hand-blown wine glasses, and is a fierce lover of well-being, tenderness, freedom, kindness, morning coffee, silence, sunshine, and Pinterest!
